Troubleshooting DHCP Issues from a computer
This was an issue with a laptop that couldn’t connect to wifi. Every other computer and device worked fine. We started the initial troubleshooting with trying to test the wifi. Running Debugs on the WLC showed us that the computer attempted to connect but the failed to fully authenticate. We got wireshark running on the machine which was able to show us that the computer would perform a DHCP Request but would get nothing back. So it turns out it was an issue with getting an IP address and not the wireless. Further investigation showed us that the DHCP server that was being advertised to this computer was wrong along with some other enviornment settings within Active Directory.
Wireshark fun goes here.
